Re-introducing Endtroducing

The Shadow Percussion Project

The story goes something like this: A rad high school music teacher in Minnetonka, MN was so inspired by DJ Shadow's groundbreaking and legendary "Endtroducing" album, that he scored some of the music, gathered a bunch of his top students, taught them the waves and wafts of the mighty sounds, and performed it in the high schools auditorium. Luckily, a video camera was there to capture some of the footage.

I found this one day meandering thru the interweb highway, and felt I just needed to share it with more people.

Without further ado, here is Brian Nudelhofen's Shadow Percussion Project

p.s. admittedly, this link may have already "made the rounds" in other blogospheres, but I felt it was important for us here at c440r to appreciate the realization, as Brian envisioned, of hip-hop music and academic classical compositions coexisting on the same stage (and no, I don't feel that Jimmy Page and Puff Daddy previously demonstrated this when a few years back they appeared on SNL together with an orchestra and performed DiddyDaddy's "hit" Come With Me).

Isabel (Reggaeton, Eventually Mix)

Next in the LAST NAIL IN THE COFFIN series. The classic Unrest song "Isabel" converted into what it was always dying to be: a reggaeton song by way of Neptune beats and old-school raps.

These remixes will continue until my demands are met.

Isabel (Reggaeton, Eventually Mix) -- Mark E. Moon

Also worth noting: these are NOT mash-ups. Thank you.

new kids on the block

here is a remix i did for what i thought was a cd release party (turns out i was misinformed) for a band called blanks. i spun before and after the band along the the derby dames. the real cd release party is in february at the middle east.

word is they will be releasing the stems for more songs on the new blanks website (which isn't up yet) so everyone can remix the shit out of this band. i have also made a blanks vs XTC mashup which i will post somewhere, sometime.

electro and station-wagons

finally coming to boston: the glass. formed in part by dominique keegan, owner of the plant bar, involved (owner?)in plantain recording house, and the guy behind plant records. get it? plant bar was famous for having hipster djs and bartenders a few years back, plaintain recording house was co-founded by james murphy of DFA and LCD soundsystem, and plant records has put out a few good comps in the last year or 2. The Glass has been around for 2 or 3 years now, and for a long time it seemed like a project "band" with a 12" or 2 and never to be heard from again. especially since keegan is also part of plantain films with Tyler Brodie, who it apppears is the dude who has made all of the above po$$ible (his dad is the former president of duke university). anyway enough on all that. i was really into the glass a couple years ago and never heard much from them, so it's cool they are still around. i give you the first glass single, which also seems to be the first single on plant records. (this is the track that i was sweating back then, and i still like it)

download: the glass - won't bother me dot mp3

the glass plays at harpers ferry thursday jan 19 (at some lame-looking nite called paper)

International Party Undergournd #2.5- Mixtape Amateur Hour

This is my first stab at making at mix, hopefully in anticipation of the Soundsystem mix that is coming at the end of the month. There is no direct 440r content in the mix, but it is a lot of stuff I've been listening and getting down to. Maybe I'll post a track listing at some point.
