Sno.1

We rollin' into the mean streets of January and we ain't even seen the white stuff yet. As a nearly lifelong Bostonian, let me throw my endorsements fully behind Al Gore's Global Warming Campaign. I'm all for it.

Check the winter heat:

"Archives" is a brand new online radio show of r&b, hip-hop, funk, and soul hosted by my old homey Gramz. It starts off with some mellow grooves, original tracks, outing some of rap's more famous samples. Think Dangermouse wrote the bassline for "Crazy"? Guess again.

Cop a rapidshare mp3 link here or get it from the bsp.org site here.

(Hint: You might hear a familiar voice on the Theme Song)

And while you're downloading, take a gander at a new remix i did, working with an accapella I grabbed online, not knowing a single iota about the original artist:

Christopher Willits - "Colors Shifting" (remix by no.1)

Big Digits on Bandwidth (CCTV) Part 1

the long lost episode of big digits at cctv, filmed in summer of 2005.
part one of two (hopefully). I used some shady ass freeware to rip the dvd and get it web-ready (that's why you'll see a semi-opaque url floating on the screen at all times).

Watch some M.I.A.+Timbaland Studio Sessions

Thanks to a chinatown express bus ride from new york to boston last night, and the luck of sitting next to the venerable Dan Hirsch, I found out about some MIA and Timbaland studio sessions floating around on YouTube. Next opportunity i had, i searched, found, and watched them. they are posted below:

In case you can't see 'em, here's the recap:

- Timbaland's studio is crowded! Beyond the tons of equipment, there's like 800 people just chillin up in there. Doesn't seem like the best working environment. I mean, wtf?! Maya can barely walk around without bumping into people.

- Timba refer's to justin timberlake as "the white black boy" as well as calling him "the best there is" and "JT one take"

- hanging in studio with timbaland, awesome slamminest beats aside, is as boring as any recording studio

- M.I.A. is still extremely crushworthy

Riot Grillz

Yo, This Friday (TODAY?!), Mark E. Moon is DJing a benefit for Rock N Roll Camp for Grillz, which we can only assume is an event to raise money to buy blinged-out toothwear for members of Shepherdess and Naughty Shirley, who are also performing. It sounds like a worthwhile cause.

Oh, wait, maybe we misread the flyer.

nyc's 8 bit answer to the westward trail

sonya recently attended the blip festival and she returned with nice buttons for us. anyway, a band called The Depreciation Guild performed at the fest and has a record out on the internet-label 8bitpeoples (home to nullsleep, bitshifter and many more, go download all their releases). they are 2 dudes who make chiptune music just like you or i, but then they rock out like a band. that's all i've really got to say about em. funny thing is, most of the reviews i found online didn't seem to have much more info on this band than i'm giving you here anyway, and i just found out about these dudes 8 minutes ago.
